We have entered an exciting new era of chemotherapy for melanoma. There are a number of very promising new drugs such as anti-CTLA 4 antibodies, anti PD 1 antibodies and targeted therapy (BRAF/MEK inhibitors). Unfortunately these drugs are not funded by Pharmac, so the best way to access them is via clinical trials. Please discuss the options with our Medical Oncologists.
