Richard CW Martin

Surgical Oncologist
MBChB (Otago), FRACS, ChM (Sydney)

Richard is a New Zealand trained General Surgeon who spent two and a half years at the Sydney Cancer Center specialising in Melanoma and Head/Neck surgery. Most of his time was spent at the Sydney Melanoma Unit, the largest treatment and research facility for Melanoma in the world.

During his time in Sydney he completed a Master of Surgery in Surgical Oncology at the University of Sydney. As a Surgical Oncologist Richard assesses and treats all forms of Melanoma.

Richard publishes in numerous academic journals, is a regular presenter at national and international conferences and is actively involved in research and clinical trials. Richard’s aim is to improve the treatment of Melanoma in New Zealand through world-class clinical care and research.

Richard is Clinical Lead for Te Whatu Ora-Waitemata Cutaneous Oncology Service and chair of the Northern Region Melanoma Multidisciplinary Team. Tertiary referral public cases can be seen at Northshore Hospital.

Private patients are seen at the The Specialists Takapuna (Northshore), Rodney Surgical Centre (Warkworth), Skinsafe (Orewa) or  Peninsula Medical Centre (West Auckland).
