Patrick reviews pathology specimens and provides second opinions for patients referred to the Melanoma Unit.

Patrick is particularly interested in the diagnosis of malignant melanoma. He spent nearly a decade as a trainee and consultant at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, NY. His research interests have focused on the epigenetic modifications in melanoma (including work published in the journal Nature in 2010), and the application of molecular techniques for diagnostically difficult melanocytic lesions.

Patrick is an Honorary Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Auckland.
